Abby is a licensed professional counselor who earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Public Administration major from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville as well. Abby takes a holistic and trauma-informed approach to counseling and works to foster a space where clients of all identities and cultural backgrounds feel seen, valued, and accepted. She prioritizes creating a non-judgmental and safe space for clients to explore and process difficult experiences while also empowering clients with tools to navigate the inevitable ups and downs of life with more confidence and ease.

Abby has experience in helping clients seeking support for trauma, anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorders, family and relational trauma, identity issues, stress management, life transitions and more. She has specialized experience in working with adults and teens who are recovering from trauma and uses evidence-based approaches including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to help clients achieve trauma symptom relief.

While she has worked with clients recovering from a variety of traumatic experiences, she has extensive experience in working with survivors of sexual assault and sexual abuse. Abby also utilizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) but pulls from a wide variety of additional modalities to best support each client’s unique needs. Her work is informed by attachment theory, the mind-body connection, and a systemic lens that recognizes how various systems influence the human experience and mental health.
